Desire

Sri Sadgurubhyoh Namah

"Desire is the root cause of suffering" : Buddha
If this is understood and the desires are let go, then no need to do any meditation, mind will always be in a meditative state, very silent.
When Arjuna asks Krishna in BhagavadGita, "What is the thing impelled by which people go astray?" , Lord answers "Kaama (desire) and anger, know them to be the enemies of mankind".
All desires has to be eschewed to be peaceful and serene. Then meditation happens naturally.
